On September 12 at 12:00 p.m. EDT, Baptist Health South Florida's Center for Robotic Surgery will broadcast live a scar-free gallbladder removal using the da Vinci robot. Anthony Gonzalez, M.D., Chief of Surgery and Minimally Invasive and Robotic Surgery at Baptist Hospital will perform the procedure, while Jorge Rabazza, M.D., chief of surgery at South Miami Hospital will provide additional commentary. The use of robotics for single-incision cholecystectomy was approved in 2011, and South Miami Hospital is one of the pioneers in this type of surgery.
